Over the course of fifty years of his literary activity, Ivan Goncharov succeeded in writing three novels: Oblomov and A Common Story - 1847 and The Cliff - 1869. He also left behind a collection of short stories and a book containing a charming account of his voyage to Japan as a member of a naval expedition entitled Frigate Pallas: Memoirs of a Voyage - 1858.
