Kandi Brown is a regular Mom. Raised in a home that was anything but gentle parenting, embraced the concept of gentle parenting with her first child before it was a catchphrase. Her oldest child is now 21. Along that journey, she was asked many times, "What do you do with your daughter that makes her so amazing". Wanting her child to have a very different childhood experience than her own is the first piece of advice she gives parents today. Forget everything you think you know about being a parent. Get to know your child and then adjust your parenting style to who they already are without your guidance, then lead by example. Kandi is a social justice educator. With achievements like being recognized as LinkedIn's top voice in education in 2016, Kandi uses writing as a way to help herself and hopefully help others as we all work to create a more equitable existence for everyone.
