It then describes the basics of duplex communication modes, interference in cellular systems, and multiple user access techniques. Focusing on TDD systems, dynamic channel assignment algorithms are discussed, as are multi-hop communications schemes, radio resource management, interference cancellation, and smart antennas. Real-world examples from UMTS, wireless LAN, and Bluetooth systems are described. Harald Hass is a professor of Electronic Engineering at the International University of Bremen Germany, where his research interests are in wireless communications.
Stephen McLaughlin is professor of Electronic Communication Systems for the Institute of Digital Communications at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. His current research is principally on the applications and development of novel adaptive (linear and nonlinear) signal processing techniques.
