An original and deliciously twisted suspense thriller.
Danish, a disgraced and disbarred doctor, comes to Monkey Hill to convince his elder brother Ananda, an ex-army colonel, to sell the 300-acre estate and give him a share of his property. Ananda refuses, as the remote forest is the only sanctuary for his loyal but unstable manservant, Razzak. Danish is irked by the unplanned presence of Anjoli, their childhood friend and now a photographer and mystery novel writer, who goes by the pen name Delnaaz Daroga. Danish, a habitual gambler, eggs Ananda to a bet that Razzak can't repeat one of his legendary feats from the army days - his ability to skip bullets over water. The old and rusty Razzak misses three shots and Ananda loses the bet. Danish celebrates and continues to humiliate Ananda as the trio climb up Monkey Hill to spot some rare birds. Razzak, still smouldering from the loss of the bet, fires one more shot in the lake. This time the bullets skips on the water and miraculously jumps out of the lake into the forest. Just then, two cars who seem to have taken a wrong turn enter the forest and the bullet, in a weird coincidence, causes a ghastly accident.
Ananda and Danish hurry to the scene of the accident to recover the bullet that could link them to the accident while Anjoli goes to the cabin to try and take Razzak away from the scene. However, Ananda and Danish find themselves confronted by a cop, Derek Rego, who immediately senses that this was no normal mishap and there was more to the event.
Anand and Danish battle their wits with Derek, but he brilliantly takes down each of their arguments and deduces the entire story. Surprisingly, he also manages to find the bullet that caused the accident and keeps it with him.
In the meantime, Razzak, feeling guilty for having put his master in trouble, escapes form Anjoli's gaze and barges into the scene. Anjoli has no option but to follow him. She however pretends to be a stranger who accidently stumbled on to the scene
Thus begins a cat and mouse game between the five principal players hoping to recover the bullet while the relentless Rego refuses to cut them any slack by leaving the site. One deduction leads to another as the lies of Ananda, Danish and Anjoli start to get mercilessly unravelled. As Rego turns on the screws, their masks begin to crack as deep rooted fears are unearthed and the three have no option but to confess their closely guarded plans.
That is when the Miss Marple in Mystery writer Anjoli Dasgupta wakes up and manages to throw the plot into a complete tailspin, but is that enough to escape the clutches of a persistent Derek Rego?
Hereon, every iteration of the story adds more twists to an already convoluted narrative till it explodes in a mind-boggling climax.
