The book concludes by outlining the events that led up to his emigrating to Australia and so achieving his childhood ambition of living in Australia. In the conclusion to the book Denis shares with the reader his emotions when during his boyhood he would sit beneath the Captain Cook Monument on the Cleveland Hills and wonder where Australia could be and what it would be like to live there.
