There are times we feel this place isn't for us. We struggle to find a way out, to somewhere we think might suit us better, somewhere more comfortable, more livable. Anywhere but here. And if, right now, we ask ourselves, 'Where are we?' We might answer in many ways-at home, at work, at shopping mall, at restaurant, this city, that province, that country. Or maybe we answer in terms of work, social roles, or even the numbers in our bank account. Where are we? And if we change the question to, 'Where do we want to go?' There are times we feel this place isn't for us. And if we change the question to, 'Where do we want to go?' The answers come again in many forms-places, positions, the value we seek in society, or the numbers we dream of in our account. Where do we want to go? We are just ordinary people. Many things have come through our lives. We've known happiness we liked, sorrow we tried to escape. We've had what we wanted and gotten it. We've lost, too. Our lives have tasted it all. We know this is just the way of ordinary people. And when we sit with the ordinary things before us, as ordinary people, we don't need to run to somewhere we think is better, more fitting, more comfortable. We are just here. Right here. Right now. With the nature before us. In 1982, Shinrin Yoku was born in Japan. It combines the word Shinrin (森林), meaning 'forest,' and Yoku (浴), meaning 'bath,' into the term Shinrin Yoku (森林浴). When translated 'forest bathing,' it creates a new understanding, seen from many angles. The practice of forest bathing is now being shared and expanded in many forms, ways, and countries. And perhaps, this is another door opened, inviting us to experience the magic of nature. Nature, which we touch, feel, see, smell, and taste the essence of life itself. And when we step into the embrace of the forest, a forest where we sit, rest, soak in, bathe in the vastness of nature before us, a forest that exists here, now. 'Have we heard the forest's sounds yet?'
