This 18th-century novella is a mystery intertwined on the back of one old love and a new infatuation, a story of strange happenings. It opens at first with a Spanish judge's diary entry looking back at the strange events, and then a letter from the wife of the plantation owner who's accused of Treason and Murder in the superstitious judge's court in St. Augustine, Florida, at the end of the American Revolution. I butchered my first novel at age 6 on the front of one lined piece of paper in number two pencil. Printing, as I hadn't learned cursive handwriting yet. I never did finish the thing but I never did look back. It was onto the next projects, submitting to what were called magazines in the 1980s (they were physical and they were actually delivered to you in person back then or sold where you could physically touch them) and also to traditional publishers, collecting lots of rejection letters. I continued studying to learn my craft all at the same time that I was submitting. Then came a minor brain injury when I was 30 years old. It was 1989.

I lost all my creativity, my ability to organize things into chapters or coherent storylines and also my ability to keep learning my craft, but my hand kept moving across the page nevertheless... With pure crap of course, then when buying a new computer, moving across the keyboard. It was a rough time until 2019 when because of a holistic substance that helped my whole-health get better at age 60, it also brought back the creativity, the organizing and learning ability. That's how I first self published "Open Wide and Say Ocule." Now I not only have a second novel self published, but a fiction newsletter with other short stories in the archives on substack.com, where I do NOT publish regularly due to still dealing with the brain injury, but I also have been working on a seven book series in the Rowling style about a secret magic America, other various fiction projects in development including one adult series of novels about secret female sociopathy and the effect it has on their families and those around them. (And the larger truth is I might actually be a frustrated filmmaker. I have a ton of unique images in my work.) It may be time soon to submit to traditional publishers again, especially the Rowlingesque and sociopath fiction. Thank you so much for reading!
