These 12 poems along with 12 black-and-white photos document one calendar year in my life. Though written throughout 2018, I believe this collection could easily apply to any year for anyone at any time. I'll never forget 2018. It was an emotional rollercoaster for my family and me. We experienced great joy and deep sadness - and just about every other possible emotion in between. We travelled, we laughed, we loved and we learned. We also lost a loved one and lived through times of stressful change. Through it all, we leaned on each other and grew closer as a family. Each of these poems is a personal and honest observation of what was going on in and around me at the big moments throughout those 12 months. They are my take on all that I heard, touched, smelt and saw. I hope this collection gives you an insight into the highs and lows of human existence, and the contemplating and philosophising that life-changing events can inspire. I hope too that, along with the cathartic satisfaction it gave me to write them, these poems will give hope, solace and strength to anyone who needs it. - Matt Fielder
