The present volume, the first one under the series, deals with the twentieth-century French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre (21 June 1905 - 15 April 1980), the renowned novelist, playwright, political activist, and exponent of Existentialism --- a philosophy acclaiming the freedom of the individual.
