Finally he realizes that being human can truly be a joyful existence when the people who live in your life are willing to see the real you and are willing to understand that behind all the disfiguring ailments there lies a person with justified emotions and possibly a heart of gold. Jack's eyes are fully opened up to the joys that life has to offer, then without warning Jack is hastily thrust back into the cruel world of rejection he has always been forced to endure.
His home life and school life have become predictably intolerable after what happened at the school prom. Never once in Jack's mind had he ever considered himself to be something special or someone that people would suddenly aspire to be? Why would they? He has lisp, two major deformities and is shunned by all in his life,including his parents and sisters. Nope, there is no way anyone would wish to be him? So what could possibly happen to change all this?
