The aim of this thesis is related to synthesis and investigation of different rare-earth doped nanomaterials that are prepared via microwave-assisted synthesis in ionic liquids (ILs). The main research has been focused on shifting the excitation wavelength from the UV-region to the visible light in order to establish efficient LED phosphors.
