Because of this, there is no direct way to approach the issue, as they will feel as if others, to make themselves look better, are trying to criticize them. Thus the only true way to overcome the disorder is for the person to realize they have such disorder and take the steps to understand it more and regulate it better. Once there is an understanding, the motivation will come with how much they want to change. Often, this will be the result when someone they care about or is close to them is severely hurt by their words or actions. Difficult as it is to face, Narcissistic Personality Disorder can be managed through therapy and the use of hobbies and/or meditation to give them more perspective about things. The ability to open their mind to new ideas will be necessary to seek change.
