And though the foppish and flamboyant Duke is by no means a ladies' man, he nonetheless is intent upon improving diplomatic relations between Fluffshire and Jestoria by manifesting marital relations with Princess Penelope! While he and Sir Cedric set out to find the missing Princess, and eat their way at every dining institution they can write off as an expense to the Kingdom, Bardly and the gang set out on their own, but always seem one step behind the Princess as they muddle their way through their pursuit.
Following the very domineering Libertine Dragonheart's fascination with Bardly and Elphyra's 'romantic' dynamic, to Thornrose Vichy's shocking accusations of Bardly's legal culpability in his second criminal trial in as many weeks, Princess Penelope at last reappears at just the right moment. But her stern refusal to marry Lord Cornelius only inspires him to tearfully demand political asylum as a heartbroken love-seeker, and now he's holed up in the castle under a blanket fort with a 'STAY OUT' sign on the door!
