Motivational Interviewing is the answer to all of these problems. Throughout my career working within the Criminal Justice System, I have utilized motivational interviewing skills to support those I work with to consider the benefits of overcoming adversity and making positive changes. Motivational Interviewing is typically employed within professional settings, however, this book is the first to provide you with the knowledge of how to perform motivational interviewing in any context, whether that be with a family member, a friend, or anyone else who you would like to support with getting them out of the rut they find themselves in. Within this book, I provide you with all the knowledge I have learned surrounding Motivational Interviewing, with interview transcripts for you to follow, as well as exercises that you can carry out to facilitate deep and meaningful conversations.
