These case studies call for sound understanding of all these elements in a day''s work''. Together these case studies anging from subjects as diverse aS bar dancing to water pollution control may be deceptively simple. They however hide legal, economic, managerial and deeply ethical complexities which come out only through thread bare discussions on the floor of the class room. Used in several batches of trainees who opt for IAS and IPS during their professional course, they served their purpose well - to provide ''life material'' challenging theory and developing new ''praxis'' for both the practitioner and trainer.
