We represent widely divergent professions, but we share an interest in the circumstances of children with regard to the rapid changes and drastic breakdown of values we all are currently experiencing, the great opportunities that are at hand. We met to come up with an answer to the question: what is the most important and most valuable thing that can be done today for children? We, the authors of this book, have various but professionally specific knowledge about aspects of the lives, nature, and circumstances of children. And we all are parents. But naturally we aren't perfect in our relations, whether with children or adults. Our impression is that we make and have made the same mistakes as everyone else. What has brought us together is, among other things, that we want to learn from our mistakes so they are fewer and farther in between.
