As a story it talks about the concept of good and bad that lives in all of us. A book about a split personality or what is technically called 'dissociative identity disorder'. It includes the elements of mystery, surprise and psychological thriller. The names of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the two different egos of the main character, have become shorthand for the expression of wildly opposite behaviour, especially between private and public selves. This is a brilliant example of Victorian fiction.
