There is not only talk of religious fanaticism in these tales, but of one as simple and endearing as Matilda's Halloween romp in "Delectable". When she finds herself entangled in a stranger's house, however, things take a deliciously disturbing turn. Finally, "The Scythe" takes place over the body of a dead girl and a discussion concerning her reanimation between two eerie creatures of another dimension who wield the power over life and death.
