Before Abraham was called to serve God, all the people on Earth served the gods, and nobody knew our Creator. And since Lucifer and his companions were cast down to the Earth long before the era of Adam and Eve, he had enough time to introduce his myth to the people, unopposed.
For thus says the LORD God of Israel: "Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor; dwelled on the other side of the river in old times, and they served other gods." (Joshua 24:2)
