This catalogue proposes to alleviate the frequent, time-consuming literature reviews conducted by investigators of the Cicindelidae of Canada and the United States. It contains the currently accepted status of names, taxonomy, geographical distributions of species and subspecies, classifications of recognized taxa, and references to systematics and other biology. The systematic treatment of group names of all ranks is based solely on published taxonomic data. However, important unpublished information bearing on taxonomic issues and biology is fully referenced. Names of taxa are treated in accordance with the rules of The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. No new taxa, combinations, synonyms, classifications, or names in literature, misidentifications, and misspellings are listed.
