Autorenporträt
My name is Dontonio Redd. I grew up attending a Catholic Church in Florida. Although I grew up Catholic, I really cannot tell you much about being Catholic. When I began to read and study the Bible myself, I focused on being a child of God. At an early age I recall being taken to church and learning about God. I remember the pastor speaking many good things about God to the congregation. I would often hear that God is good, but do not recall the pastor teaching why God is good. In fact, I do not recall the pastor talking much about the wrath of God and the urgency of repenting from sin. This shaped my view on God as I was coming up as a young man. I had a very worldly view of God because I did not read and study his Word for myself as I was growing up. I used to love watching movies as a kid. I really used to enjoy the action movies where the good guy would overcome the bad guy. I started to measure righteousness against these cinematic figures that Hollywood would produce every year. In the movies you knew who the good guy was. The good guy would always come out on top. The bad guy would always fall. In my mind as a child if I lived like the good guy in the movies, I would always get the good life and the beautiful woman. As I lived each day and grew, I learned that the reality of life was far from the movies. It was clear that the real world loved evil more than it loved God. In the Bible there is one hero. That hero is Jesus Christ who was God manifested in the flesh. Jesus Christ is our savior because when Adam ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge sin entered the world through him, and now we all had to be made right with God in order to be in his presence. With out God there can be no life. Jesus Christ willingly gave his life for us and died on the Cross, so men could be made right with God once again. If we believe and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then we can be saved. So, it is because of the finished work on the Cross that we are saved. Jesus Christ righteousness is the only righteousness that God recognizes. Anytime we try to come with our own righteousness we will always fall short. We are accredited righteousness through faith. As a young man I had many idols that I looked to. All who provided me with a worldly view on life, that lead to a lot of ungodliness in my life. I made many bad decisions because of my self righteousness that lead me to choose to marry a woman who heart was far from the Lord's. I would come to know my ex-wife to be an enemy of God. My ex-wife and I were unequally yoked, but because of my self righteousness I chose her without properly examining her through the Word of God. It brought me much grief, but it did not cost me my soul because the grace of God did abound. Learning of this I had to do a lot of self reflecting in my life. I realized that I had went the majority of my life leaning on my own understanding. I wanted to hate Gemini my ex-wife, but Jesus Christ encouraged me examine myself through biblical lenses and I saw that I had been falling short of his glory all my life. I knew that in order to be right with God I would have to forgive my ex-wife. I did not know that I would have to continually forgive my ex-wife as she would continually try and provoke me. My experience reading the Bible at this stage in my life gave, putting the Word into practice to a whole new meaning. Not only would I need to finish reading the Bible cover to cover I would need to have the mind of Christ for everyday life. It took approximately one year and three months for me to finish reading the Bible. Before I began writing this book, I studied the Bible for approximately two years and four months. I share that to say if it were not for the Word of God, I could not possibly write this book. God has been with me as I try and rightly draft this book that will be used to draw people near him. This book in no means will replace the Bible. It is a book that celebrates Jesus Christ and shames the righteousness of men. I was encouraged to lean on the Word of God, and I hope you will be encouraged to do the same.
