My name is Biejie and I grew up in the very north of Kenya near the shores of the beautiful lake Turkana, very close to the Ethiopian border. I think I had a childhood there similar to the one other kids in our Daasanach tribe experienced. Things were not always easy, I grew up believing this life was just normal for any child. With time I discovered another world, also spending time in modern cities like Nairobi. Only then I realized that the life we were living at home is not known to many people. I think I had a childhood there similar to the one other kids in our Daasanach tribe experienced. Things were not always easy, I grew up believing this life was just normal for any child. With time I discovered another world, also spending time in modern cities like Nairobi. Only then I realized that the life we were living at home is not known to many people. Seeing that our traditional life has become rare I developed the desire to write about our tribe. I was lucky to find somebody who decided to help me to collect my memories of my childhood in our remote tribe and to put it on paper.
