Mary Banks is the third child born to an African American family in Chicago, Illinois. After her parents separated by the time she was seven, she was eventually raised in a single-parent household. Her home had strict guidelines. Mary compels people to surround themselves with positive people. She graduated from DePaul University. She worked in law enforcement for thirty years. She has acting, modeling, and motivational speaking experiences. She is a Christian and taught Bible classes for eighteen years. She also volunteers in other capacities in her community. She has made mistakes but kept the power of resilience. Even though she was quiet as a child, she grew up to boldly witness to gang members on the street corners. She has put her own life in danger for others. Her hope is that this book will allow people to know that they are not alone.
