They provide local residents with a wide range of services and products. Airports and especially the one near Frankfurt tend to be a competitive opponent for shopping-centres and shopping-streets. The aim of this work is to offer the reader a solid overview about this challenging and huge topic. Additionally the empirical part of this work will investigate how big the ac-ceptance of local residents near the airport as a normal consuming location is.
