The doors of realism were opened again, and the short story began to emphasize topics stemming from the bitter reality whose effects had not yet been erased or removed. The continuity of this realistic line was helped by the emergence of a generation of writers who preserved its realistic character, if not in its themes, then at least in its form and composition. Among the methods that perhaps contributed to the creation of this new reality, in which the Spanish novel and the short story were marginalized, was the flourishing of the art of fiction in Latin America and its capture of the attention of critics, readers, and scholars. Thus, it became an international reputation that overshadowed others, and came to represent literature written in the Spanish language in a way that Does not accept disputes.
