This book discusses that program, with particular emphasis on Hunter College, supplemented by material on Hostos Community College, the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and Medgar Evers College. This book is not merely a compilation of statistical facts and figures, but, rather, an account of the experiences of students, parents, faculty, tutors, peer advisers, administrators, and various other participants in the system. The authors have been at Hunter College since the inception of the Open Admissions policy and have been personally involved with all of the related programs and procedures.
