The present study is a review of zootherapeutic practices of the different ethnic communities of India. This work is an attempt to present a list of animal reported for medicinal purposes by different communities of India. Data were collect from selected 15 published research papers of various authors on zootherapeutic studies in India. Approximately 109 animals and their 270 usage are reported in traditional medicine in different parts of India. The number of animals reported for medicinal purposes in different parts of India is enough to feel a need to discuss on the use of animals and their products, as medicines in conservation biology and sustainable use.
