Yikes! is the second book that I have written since retiring from the conventional workforce. Never being an avid reader of books myself, it came as a surprise to many who know me when my first book (Oops!) was published. Unless something out of the ordinary occurs in my life, I have no intention to use my remaining intellect to write another one. Yikes! is the second book that I have written since retiring from the conventional workforce. Never being an avid reader of books myself, it came as a surprise to many who know me when my first book (Oops!) was published. Unless something out of the ordinary occurs in my life, I have no intention to use my remaining intellect to write another one. Below the next paragraph, you will find the first and last poetic effort of my short literary career. My favorite poem when I was growing up and still to this day is "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer. In contrast to me, he was a true American writer/poet and it is unfortunate that his life was cut short in 1918 serving as a sergeant in the "Fighting 69th" during World War I. My poem is a spin-off of his well-known work and, hopefully, no one will take offense to it.
