Wind in Trees - Upheaval is the second book in the Wind In Trees Trilogy featuring Earth in several centuries in the future. Very few humans remain. The few that are living are slaves to the ruling Batrans who are in a permanent state of debt to the Soofysh, an all-powerful entity that doesn't seem to exist in an organic state. More than a century ago, the reptilian Batrans colonized Earth which following its sterilization of nearly all human life by an entity known as the Soofysh. In return, the Soofysh demanded payment in the way of the planet's resources. In recent years the Soofysh were vanquished by the reptilians with the help of one of the surviving humans, blue-skinned Henry Wind In Trees, a Lakota Sioux who was forcibly converted by the Soofysh to a human-looking, age-defying cyborg as one of their experiments. Over the years, Batrans and humans found a way to work together, inhabiting separate parts of the Americas suited best to their biologizes. Cold-blooded Batrans preferred the warmer, equatorial climes, while humans favored the more temperate zones. Batrans settled on the North American and European continents, however, the lack of communication with the European colonies prompted a group of North American Batrans to strike out in search of answers.
