Born in the Pune district of British India, Nathuram Godse (19 May 1910 - 15 November 1949) was an Indian nationalist and activist. A former member of the Hindu Mahasabha and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he was associated with the latter as a ground worker. After his assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, he was given the death sentence in 1949.
