This books delves into the details of periodontal microbiology and its role in initiation as well as progression of periodontal diseases. Etiology of periodontal diseases is usually poly-microbial in nature. The book mainly deals with the role of primary and most commonly isolated bacterial species from periodontal diseases. The periopathogens produce a variety of virulence factors that contribute to their pathogenicity. The aim of this review book is to discuss the details of these virulence factors and their specific role in the periodontal pathogenesis. With current shift in paradigm in treatment of periodontal diseases, early identification and blocking of these specific virulence factors can aid in preventing further progression of periodontal disease activity.

I am Dr. Chaitanya Pradeep Joshi. I completed my masters in Periodontology and Implantology in 2016. I have a huge penchant for dental research. Periodontal microbiology and soft as well as hard tissue periodontal regeneration are my areas of interest.I wish to thank my mentor Dr. Nitin Dani and my parents for their constant support.
