This thesis was written as part of the Master of Education programme in the Department of Applied Education in 2018 and addresses a current and controversial issue that teachers face in their everyday work. In addition to the strong professional goal, I also have a personal interest in this topic, as I myself have a migrant background. My own school experience and my observations and experiences during my internships have made it clear that no school is free of violence and that intervention and violence prevention are part of a teacher's job. There is a significant discrepancy between the media portrayal of violence and the actual incidents of violence in primary schools, which is why I decided to ask teachers about their experiences and attitudes. The sharp rise in immigration in recent years presents schools in Germany with new challenges. This thesis attempts to show how these challenges are perceived and mastered by teachers on a daily basis.
