Natural plant extracts contain a variety of phenolic compounds to which various biological activities are attributed. The present work deals with the study of phytochemistry and antioxidant activities of the plant Abelmoschus esculentus . The quantitative estimation of total polyphenols (by Folin-Ciocalteu method), total flavonoids (by aluminum trichloride method) and condensed tannins (by iron trichloride method) showed that ethanolic extracts of Abelmoschus esculentus fruits are rich in these compounds.
