In Zanzibar, as in all countries, road accidents are increasing over time, public transport vehicles appear to be involved in a higher proportion of accidents. However, public transport cover a high number of passengers transported. The results of the study show- in 2009, a total of 583 RTI were reported compared to 2010, (692 RTI) - a 19% increase. The total admissions cases by categories 2009-2010, respectively: drivers from a total of 3% to 4%; passengers from a total of 17% to 23%; pedestrians from a total of 39% to 35%; motorcycle from a total of 24% to 23% and bicycles from a total of 18% to 15%.
