It contains significant levels of calcium, iron, silicon and aluminum oxides. Oxides of Mn, Cu, Zn and some other heavy metals are also present but in small amounts (Assiut Cement Company). Cement Manufacture Plants in Egypt approximately discard annually one million tons of cement dust that is collected from exhausted gases of cement kilns. It contains excessive concentrations of alkalis which make it unsuitable to return to the cement making process. In addition, these amounts of cement dust result in serious impairment of air quality particularly in densely populated areas in the vicinity of these plants (Elwan and El-Didamony, 2002).
