Platelet rich plasma [PRP] is an autologous concentration of human platelet in a small volume of plasma. It is derived from sequestering and concentrating freshly drawn venous blood. PRP is known to contain a number of growth factors. Here we present a detailed overview of its application in management of maxillofacial defects and discuss about future research required for providing improved and better healthcare to patients.

Autor

Amit K Agarwal is an alumni of Raman Research Institute, Bangalore India (PhD, 2006). Amit worked at Memorial University, Canada for two years as a postpostdoctoral research fellow. He moved to Dehradun, India in Feb 2009 where he is living with his family and working as a Scientist at the Defense R & D Organization, Government of India.
