Its etiology is multiple, so it is essential to specify the most updated and effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Objective: To identify the updated clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of trigeminal neuralgia. Methodology: A systematic review based on the literature available in data portals "PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo, Elsevier, Cochrane, Google Scholar" from January 1, 2018 to the present was carried out, which will include literature that are between the quartiles Q1-Q4 reflecting the impact index of each journal and levels of evidence classified by the Oxford scale. The present study will be governed by the recommendations of the PRISMA 2020 statement.
