Tessa Kiros, Tochter einer finnischen Mutter und eines zypriotischen Vaters wuchs in Südafrika auf und erkundete als junge Frau die Welt. Sie arbeitete in London, Sydney, Athen und Mexiko in renommierten Restaurants und lernte Kochtraditionen rund um den Erdball kennen. Auf einer Reise nach Italien lernte sie ihren Mann Giovanni, selbst Koch, kennen und lebt seither mit ihm und den beiden gemeinsamen Töchtern in der Toskana.
