Jesus is called the Word of God and his words recorded in the inspired books of the Bible are eternal and not trivial. Some people attempt to trivialize or nullify portions of the Old Testament by saying that they are outdated thoughts of the authors who lived in cultures different from today. These people would argue that the Bible needs to fit into the cultural norms of today. Jesus said that his words reveal eternal truths. (Jn 14:6) The Bible represents his words given to mankind.
