Tourism Economics is a scientific discipline that studies the system of economic relations arising from the production, distribution and consumption of tourism products and services that satisfy the needs of the tourist. The economic significance of tourism is very significant for many national economies, including the growing economic contribution of tourism to the Russian economy. The relevance of studying the discipline is due to the fact that the successful development of the tourism business in Russia is possible only on condition of the formation of highly qualified human resources at all levels of tourism management, capable of making competent and well-grounded economic decisions. In this regard, obtaining professional economic knowledge, skills and competencies is a prerequisite for training personnel for the tourism sector. The main aspects of tourism economics are considered. The basic concepts of economic activity in tourism, tourism factors, the main problems and ways of solving them are presented. Particular attention is paid to the economy of tourism industry enterprises; modern methods of labor economy management in tourism are proposed.
