Tourism has been seen as an economic activity capable of making a fundamental contribution to the socio-economic development of less developed regions, since in addition to providing income for the public and private sectors, it also generates direct and indirect employment within the total local economic system, which gives it recognized importance for increasing the quality of life of the receiving community and reducing poverty in these regions. The Santos Reis neighborhood in Natal/RN is a case study of an area marked by the economic fragility of its residents, even though it is surrounded by activities related to the development of tourism. In this way, we analyzed the extent to which the increase in tourism in the city of Natal has an impact on the quality of life of the community living in the Santos Reis neighborhood.
