Other constraints include shortage of quality planting material, bulky nature of tuber and lower tuber multiplication rate. Micropropagation is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative and feasible means in the propagation of most of the commercially important plants. In vitro multiplication of safed musli allows large multiplication of disease free propagules in a short duration and on a year round basis. Hence, the investigations were carried out to standardize the type of explant for rapid multiplication, standardization of growth regulator concentration and combinations of these for better culture establishment.
