Just shy of twenty years later, Mack Parkins is dead, and Kris is the number one suspect as far as the St. Louis Police Department is concerned. According to the police she had plenty of opportunity and even more motive. They were sure they had their smoking gun, but Kris knew she did not do it. When she reported the crime, she thought it was difficult to be on the other side of the interview table, but now she finds herself on the other side of jail cell bars, with a very strong possibility of it being a permanent situation.
