James Edward Talmage (21 September 1862 - 27 July 1933) was an English chemist, geologist, and religious leader who served as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1911 until his death. Talmage was a professor at Brigham Young Academy (BYA) and the University of Utah (U of U), as well as the president of the U of U and the Latter-day Saints' University.
