Meet Grace - she's a very magical and highly sensitive person. But at 15 years old, she doesn't yet realise this is what makes her unique. She just feels weird and different, unsure of herself, amongst the confident posh kids at the boarding school where she's just got a scholarship. But magic seeks her out, and befriended by two kind hearts in her form, Archie and Daisy, she begins a great adventure. Walking in the woods one day, an accident propels the three friends into the path of Nanny Watkins, a wise and skilled healer, versed in the indigenous magical ways of Britain, passed down to her through an ancient lineage. Nanny begins to teach the kids her magical ways - how to work with their dreams, shamanic journeying to meet their guides and how to step into their power and purpose. They time travel through magic portals and learn about ley lines and standing stones. They meet their guide, a magnificent White Lion, who tells them they are on a mission to become Guardians of the Wild. Nanny sees in Grace, the perfect apprentice. And Grace comes to accept that what makes her different, makes her special. Meanwhile, deep in the White Mountains, a magical white foal is born under a falling star. He grows a spiral horn of light and has a gift for healing. But difference brings danger and his fate is entwined with the fate of the three kids. Their mission as Guardians of the Wild begins to unfold. Back at school a full cast of comic characters brings humour, heart and hilariously chaotic boarding school capers to this coming-of-age book. It will appeal to all ages and particularly to fans of Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching series and the Harry Potter series. This is Book 1 of a 3 part series.
