Some of the papers provide a fascinating synopsis of the results of excavations and surveys at towns such as Castledermot, Enniscorthy, Inistioge, Navan, New Ross and Wexford. Others focus on research carried out at a particular site or building within a key medieval town (Carlow, Drogheda, Ferns, Kildare, Kilkenny, Kilmallock and Mullingar). Less-well-known deserted medieval settlements on the shores of Lough Key and Lough Ree (Co.
