The Story of You is essentially a workbook that is a part of the Where We Grow series. It is based on the idea of showing different cultures and how kindness can be incorporated as a way of life. The workbook is a template that is modeled after the other books in the Where We Grow series, and is designed to help a child tell their own story. It guides them through recording things from their own culture that they practice and enjoy, as well as display challenges that they encounter in their lives. The idea is that the child write and illustrate their story and record their values at a young age.

Autor

Leah Bullen is the author and illustrator of the Where We Grow book series. An enduring love of children and their potential prompted her to create this series with the hope of inspiring them to explore people from cultures different than their own, and to nurture openness, acceptance and curiosity. Having raised three grown children, she believes part of what has made them successful and balanced young adults was listening to stories read aloud from a very young age. Regular reading aloud to young children establishes a bond that transcends a child's development in ways not normally considered. The act of having a regular reading time for children can give children a true sense of grounding and security. (My husband and I always read to our kids about an hour before bedtime, and we make the reading both entertaining as well as one of physical closeness. Reading also allows them the opportunity to practice their reading and ask questions in a non-threatening environment. The mother of three grown children, Bullen lives in Northern California with her husband and big dog Bode, and enjoys yoga, hiking, golf and creating art.
