Some African countries have moved a bit farther in bringing the participation of women in the political and economic sphere as a reflection of democracy, including in the media system. Whereas the freedom of the press is constitutionally guaranteed in Ethiopia and several private media(print) have flourished in the past few decades, the extent to which women are breaking into thses media institutions is not well researched. The purpose of this book is to contribute in filling the research gap in this area and add scientific knowledge to the global research efforts. It contributes invaluable information to policy makers, media organizations, journalists, women movement activists and associations on their effort to change the status quo.
