For 13 years he ran a Behavioral Management firm working with some of the nation's largest organizations, when he discovered that his own relationship with his middle daughter, Lauren, wasn't as great as he thought. To help figure out how he could become a better father to his three daughters, he turned to other men who had daughters. Because of his Behavioral Management background, these discussions evolved into 2-hour recorded, deeply personal interviews with over 100 fathers across the U.S. and Canada. What came out of these interviews for him, was more profound than James could ever have imagined. Excerpts from these interviews became the basis of the book, The Secret Life of Fathers, and led to the founding of The Father-Daughter Project(TM). He has also been involved in regional leadership for The Mankind Project, a non-profit men's training and personal development organization.
