The 'spooks' involved include the Russian "Lieutenant" Nikolai Aldanov and the British-American "Samantha" (first introduced in the previous stories) and the violent action moves swiftly between Tokyo, Moscow, London and Washington DC - with an unexpected romance and finally ending dramatically in Scotland! The author was a journalist and editor with the BBC and its international offshoot Visnews for many years, before moving to the USA to work on the development of satellite services for the international TV market.
